Like, can someone maybe explain / draw on the image exactly how the shift cable should be routed here? I've searched online, but no one zooms in really to explain. I guess it's something you realise with experience but I've not had to adjust a rear derailleur before so idk.

Doesn’t that funny shaped washer have a groove in the back of it? Cable goes in the groove.
What derailleur is it?
If there is a groove under the clamping washer on the right side of the bolt it probably should go there.
