  1. I was thought bikepacking was when to strapped a gun to your handlebars 🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. Its all semantics, I think for a lot of people bike packing combines travelling by bike with some of the ideas around UL hiking (minimalism, etc) to allow you to travel in a wider range of terrain.

I like those panniers for commuting but they are way too heavy for getting off road in. But it really just depends on your own definition of what you are doing.

Sorry bud I did some quick calculations and you’re .03L away from bikepacking. Might as well just call it a day.

  4. You’ve got camping gear on your bike, I’d say that’s bikepacking! Too much focus is put on aesthetic. You’re out there doing the thing. Hope you enjoy!

  5. Watch out! It’s illegal (and sinful) to put panniers on gravel bike frames. you might be pulled over at the county line and cited. What’s more, you might think it’s sleek-looking and fast, but the devil hides in rear panniers, ensnaring the wayward into Sisyphean transcontinental tours.

  6. Funny to think that just a year ago this post would have been removed for being ‘touring’

That’s classic touring but it doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s weird that we have two terms for the same thing… even if they have notable distinctions.
