Hello!
I currently ride a vintage early 90s Marin pine mountain which I have been irrationally sentimentally attached to. The components have all been upgraded but it’s never been a good fit for my use case and I am looking to upgrade.
I ride about 150-200km/week just commuting and living my life. I live in Vancouver and I ride all year and all weather so I’d like something that can handle wet roads, mud/leaves, etc. I don’t really ride otherwise for leisure or with groups (but if I had a better bike, I’d like to change that!)
I need something that can handle fenders and panniers, is fast, relatively comfortable, and durable (minimal maintenance required by me would be a plus). My budget is up to CAD$6,000.
Finally not trying to be political, but I would prefer a Canadian company if possible or at least a non-American brand.
I’m generally very ignorant about how to buy a bike and what’s out there because I’ve been riding my Frankenstein baby for like 20 years, so any guidance would be very appreciated!
So far from a preliminary search I’ve been thinking about a Devinci Hatchet Carbon Apex 11s (https://www.devinci.com/en/bikes/gravel-and-road-2025/hatchet-carb-apex1-11s-black-edition/)
Or a Bombtrack Audax (https://www.bombtrack.com/my24/complete-bikes/audax)?
But realistically I’m just sort of googling in the dark. Any help would be awesome
Thanks very much!
