Wow these guys were fast. Started near the back and had to move up quickly. Then the Del Dios early climbs were super fast and you couldn’t tell who was going to pop. Luckily some of made it across to the lead group by the top of the Del Dios climb. Then the pace was hard because one guy had an e-bike and instead of helping the riders he split the group. One guy joined us fresh after many climbs and took really hard pulls on the climbs breaking off some guys. ( I call that running interference )
And then on the San Luis Rey long climbs the group split up a bit more.
There were around 4 of us that did the last 40 miles together (not recorded). I was beat by then and pulled when I could.
At an aid station we refilled 2 bottles and I’m glad it was kind of cold otherwise we would have gotten dehydrated.
Hard course, tough ride. Fun stuff.

Great footage – I love the little un-road-ish section near the 2 hour mark of your video. I was alone at that point and was like, leave to to MMX to throw in some random gravel. While I would have hoped for a larger field of riders (I'm sure it will only grow from here) it was a great route.
