Hi!
I am thinking about buying these wheels second hand. He sent me these photos to show how much meat there's still on the brake tracks. Wouldnt you say this look alright? He wants 250 euro for these Dura-Ace c50 clincher wheels, which seems like an okay deal.
Thanks in advance

Those are pretty worn IMO.
Now if you use decent pads and keep it clean and ride pretty flat areas could last a long time, but could fail.
There isn’t a wear marker or line on those rims so it’s really hard to tell life span and thickness. I have worn through a couple rims over the years. One went slowly and another pretty suddenly.
There is still life. Yes. How much?
I would pass personally.
Some would say they are done and others would say the rim is on it’s way out. I would not recommend buying these wheels.
Personally I wouldn’t touch them with a 10ft pole. Imo from the first pic it’s deffo cooked, the 2nd one is close behind.
For these dura ace rims I’m sure there should be dot like indents on the braking track (usually 1 or maybe 2 per side on each wheel, can’t quite recall but deffo at least 1 per side), if those are gone the rims are worn out, probably why he’s used a stanley blade instead of photos of the indents.
I would skip them personally
I swear I’ve seen these pictures not even two weeks ago, anyone else recall them?
I had a brake track fail on a rim before (MTB). And it didn’t look as worn as your pics.
He’s selling because they are worn out. I wouldn’t ride on those…
I’d ride these (with soft pads) but not buy these. Only for really cheap maybe lol.
Dont buy them! Except you need the hubs and the price is pretty good.
Thought I was about to make a good deal lol. Thanks for saving me the headache guys. Appreciate it
These are worth 50 not 250 since you will have to replace them in a couple of months depending on your riding.
Wheel builder here. With the glut of used and NOS wheels on the market, I’d pass over anything with this much wear. You’ll be buying twice and potentially risking injury if/ when the track fails. They don’t typically give a warning, rims are something that are fine until they *really aren’t fine*. You might get some time out of them if you bought them, but not enough to be *worth* your time.
Don’t buy them. Those are pretty worn, and I’d say it’s bad enough that they should be replaced ASAP.
I’d ride them if I had them or given away for free. I would’t pay money for them unless attached to a desirable hub for an eventual rebuild.
Buy choice, but they will fail without warning ………just make a choice. Me I’d pass as it’s not worth the risk.
