I’ve just put a new chain on my turbo bike which I have not used in about a year. The chain is now chunking/skipping on both the chainring and cassette.
I don’t believe it was doing this with the previous chain which was severely overstretched

First video: chainring, every few revolutions the chain doesn’t fit into the cassette and sits on top. It then chunks downwards

Second video: rear casette there is a similar sound but I can’t see where this is coming from

Thanks so much for any help

Can you help me workout what is happening with my drive train?

  1. All parts of a drive train wear. When a severely worn/stretched chain is ridden, it can cause the cassette and chain rings to wear to fit the stretched chain. When you replace with a new chain, nothing works right because the drivetrain in its worn state, works best with the older stretched chain. It does look like there may be a bent tooth on the chainring that is causing it to jump up. Check at the point were it jumps if the tooth looks bent at all

  2. Time-Intern-656 on

Something either that chain, part of it, or the set up is well out of line so your chain is not engaging properly
