I had this bike sitting around and my 14yo son decided to claim it for himself – he slapped a metal Ammo can on the back for storage. I helped him change the tubes and tires so he could zoom around on it for his geocaching hobby.
I'm glad he's out of the house and riding around – Anything I should be doing as regular maintenance?

These 90s mtbs are pretty solid and this one looks like it’s in decent shape. Any plastic parts will start to crack and break soon, and maybe check the chain to make sure it’s not stretched out, and the bearing systems to see if they are loose/knocking (hubs, bottom bracket, headset) but otherwise, just the regular stuff—oil the chain occasionally, pump up the tires every other week, tell him to mention when there’s “weird noises” so you can fix small problems before they become big problems.
