  1. As a first bike, I don’t think you’d be happy with it. There are better bikes for the same money to do what you wanna do.

    Get a proper road bike and eventually add a triathlon handlebar on Top when needed.

Off the bat you’d need to replace the cockpit with road bars and brifters, and if you need a new stem (probable), too, plus cables & tape, you’ll find yourself $600 farther into it before you even ride it, and that’s assuming the tires are in good shape and it’s otherwise well-maintained. This is a good bike for the guy who owns it, who bought a road bike to use for tris, but it is not a good road bike for a new road biker who wants to ride on roads while not competing in tris.
