    Sounds great, go for it!

Especially online, there’s a lot of dedication to ultralight stuff, but once you’re out there on your bike, you won’t be carrying the weight on your body, just need to get it rolling. Have fun!

  2. If you’re possibly facing wind or ride fast then you’ll notice the pannier drag. I’ve used narrow commuter or front panniers, added gear in front on the bar, and found through rolling experiments down my hill (the least grade I face leaving my house is 17 percent in part) that the big square panniers noticeably slow the bike, more than modest bags on the fork legs (which surprised me). A bit of weight up front seems to make my bikes handle better.

  3. Going against the grain, I’d advise you to take a few things that you’re not sure about. When you actually live the experience, you’ll know what you really want or not.

On my first trip, I took a whole watermelon and a flannel assuming I “need” it. Having done a few trips now, I’ve realized I don’t need a watermelon, but I do appreciate having a flannel.

  4. I’ve taken a lot more stuff around the world and not using it in the end, do your one nighter and then you’ll realise what was useful and what was not that’s the best way !

  5. Sounds about right. Where’s your food though? And you’ll probably want more water depending on how far you’re riding.

  6. Do you have tire pump and tools for fixing? Water filter? I’m just trying to think what I have and used

Looks very similar to what I’m about to set off with, except I picked up a rhinowalk handlebar bag to stash my sleep system or tent in to spread the weight. What’s the phone case you have on the front?
