At 91.5 euro, that’s a solid deal. Microshift is a good value if you’re on a budget or upgrading an older bike. Go for it!

  2. AFAIK it’s ok.

I do ride a Microshift Kassette (doing well). Derailleur seems to be good, Shifter ok – from what I read.

  3. Their derailleurs are fantastic, but there are better shifters. Can’t comment on the cassette.

  4. I went with Deore 5100 groupset on a recent build, it was cheaper than advent at that time (e125 I think) and I already have the tools etc.

  5. I’ve done at least 8.000 km on my Advent 9, including riding through two winters without having time for proper maintenance. I wore out a cassette, changed it and put some oil on it now and then. It’s dirty and gritty, but still running fine.

Running an XLE 11 speed shifter & derailleur and I found it much easier to setup than the Sram Rival that I replaced with it. I wager that if you sourced the group separately and shopped around you could get it cheaper than €91.50

I‘m using a microshift advent x for a while now (drop bar version). No complaints. It’s a solid groupset

  8. I had experience using it, I didn’t like how it switches at all. Shimano Deore is much better.

  9. I have an advent x on my rockhopper. Looks cool and installation was simple. It’s the only groupset I’ve snapped a chain on but that was probably user error.

    Would recommend.

I have built up four bikes with Microshift, including Acolyte Super Short 1×8 for a kids bike, Advent 2×9 on my 26” commuter, and AdventX 1×10 on a 26” MTB.

Apparently you can mix and match their shifters. For cassettes I use Shimano, MicroShift, or Sunrace with KMC or SRAM chains.

My general concern with MS is the all-over-the-place crosscompatibility. Even within the brand. Most every groupset what does not meant to be externally compatible has close to 0 crosscompatibility. Acolyte only works with with Acolyte, Advent only works with Advent, Advent X is Advent X only. No, actually with Sword it got Slightly better, but… If your groupset gets discontinued, or unavailable for longer time, and you manage to brake either de shifter or the derallieur you are f*cked. Yes you might be able to source it used, but due to the fact that MS is just started to gain reasonable audience is going to be tough. Thats one of the main reasons i’d never run MS on any of my personal bikes. Value and quality seems fine to me, but i consider this as a risk i dont want to take.

I just upgraded from Sora to Microshift Sword. It was definitely worth it. See if your LBS has bike for sale with microshift on it and give it a spin!

  13. It works for the price, but has poor durability and the shifters fail at a very high rate. The newish Shimano Cues is much higher quality for in a little more money. And I say this as someone who doesn’t really like Shimano but install a lot of it.
