Cycling from Thirsk to Scarborough across the North York Moors. Beautiful views, hills, pubs and chips! There's some amazing climbs and descents along this route, long gravel roads across the moorland, and traffic free paths along old train lines. Hugely recommend to anyone looking for peaceful riding in the north of England in a less popular spot over the lakes or the peaks.

I love seeing folks enjoy cycling in my homeland. I would love to go back and actually do a proper tour around the Moors, but I live in Canada now, so can’t just hop over (I’m originally from Pickering). Nice to see you actually got some great weather and were able to enjoy it at its best. If you go around the end of July, start of August, the moors are bright purple from all the Heather.
Thanks for sharing!
Do you have a gpx of the route you took? I’m heading up to the North York Moors on Monday for a 5 day cycle trip and looking for some last min route inspiration!
