That’s just how mechanical discs work
That’s how it works on mechanical (cable actuated discs)
You’re using a mechanical brake. Most of the time if it’s stock brakes that came with the bike, it’s a single piston brakes. But if you want a better braking performance, buy a dual piston mechanical brake. Or go hydraulic brakes.
Because you didn’t pay for hydraulic

normal for a single piston mechanical brake, unless you got a dual piston
Unless you paid more for the brakes than you would have for some hydraulic brakes that’s just how cable operated brakes work, only one side moves and it squeezes the disk onto the opposite side.
