  1. I very much welcome equal rights and duties for cyclists and other traffic. It doesn’t matter if a a car, a motorbike or a cyclist kills someone in traffic.

BUT a cyclist shouldn’t be judged the same way as a car in EVERY situation, because they are simply different.

British politicians love introducing hyper specific legislation for things that are already illegal rather than actually tackling route problems because they are obsessed with appeasing pensioners. The only example cited in the article would never have resulted in a conviction if they were in a car not on a bike, the accused seemed like an arse which heavily played against him

  3. I think they are just filling in the gap in the law after the young guy who killed an OAP in London was convicted using an archaic law as there was no specific law to convict him of at the time.

Just looked it up it happened in 2016 and he got 18 months for wanton and furious driving. Obviously the ladies family were quite upset and have been campaigning since to get law changed with a specific offence and bringing it in line with dangerous driving.

We could maybe trial this to see if it also works with motorists! That would be interesting, right?

  5. #Read the article.

This is aligning the causing death by dangerous cycling maximum penalty with the causing death by dangerous driving one. It’s equality for all road users
