Took delivery of a brand new Juliana Rubion (Santa Cruz Bronson) and while prepping to ride wrap it I noticed the UDH had cracked the paint and mushroomed the carbon where it rests up against on the rear triangle.
The bike shop lost their mind at mewhen I sent them the pictures and suggested it may have happened on initial assembly/shipping or in their care before the sale. I picked it up fully assembled and “ready to ride”. It’s never been ridden yet, and has never been on a rack of any kind. It went from the shop, on the bed in a van, to the stand in the house to ride wrap.
It was a bit fishy at the shop, as this is a 2023 brand new they had sitting in the back. With an upgraded rear shock. That they “weren’t sure why it hasn’t sold yet, as Bronson’s are so hard to get on clearance”
I’m not concerned to ride it, but I’d like it to be noted in case it starts to spread in the future and compromise the rear triangle.
Santa Cruz/Juliana brand customer service has been great to deal with about it so far, but suggests I let the shop know about it.
What are your thoughts on this, is it likely to spread?
Any bad experiences with the actual shops you got your bikes from?

I would ask them to replace the rear triangle. I would expect that to fail.
It looks like paint not structural from the image. If you care that much touch it up. If you got the bike on clearance I wouldn’t complain. If you bought it full price that’s a different story, and the shop should at least reimburse you for it.
So the bike shops initial reaction is to not take ownership?
SC has great warranties – it looks structural in the first photo, and if so, I would not ride it bc carbon likes to crack more once it gets started.
Sucks that your shop is like that, If they just immediately say it want their fault without looking into it i wonder what other shady stuff they have going on.
Get a second opinion from another shop, and I don’t mean send a pic, bring the bike to another local shop or two and see what they think.
SantaCruz has a lifetime warranty on frames….ride it…..if it gets worse warranty it with SC.
