Introducing my baby, “The Rig.” I commute on this Trek Crossrip+, and have used and abused the poor bike. The carbon fork has seen better days, so I started exploring fork options. Turns out there aren’t a lot of current high quality forks that use straight steerer. I dug and dug through the internet on ways to convert to tapered and stumbled across my holy grail. If your head tube inner diameter is 44mm, you can convert to an external cup, specifically the EC44/40 lower, and run a tapered steerer tube. This was my initial test using something around the shop, I plan on going to a 50mm gravel fork soon. It rides like a cloud, though the handling takes a couple minutes to get used to, and I no longer have stand-over clearance haha
