You can get a cheap 3 arm puller through ebay/Amazon if the extractor strips the remaining threads

  2. Is it really shot? Mine did that a lot too. Doesn’t mean that the thread is useless.

  3. I’ve had luck about 7/10 times with heating the crank arm with a blowtorch (not too much, just to barely where it hurts to touch it) and whacking it with a hammer from the other side.

They always come off that way, they’re not always reusable. If they are reusable you have to do the same thing again next time.

  4. looks like there may be like 3 threads remaining in the way back, see if u can to thread the tool in straight and all the way in

Cross threaded the removal tool while trying to take off the crank? As others have said, a three arm bearing puller that you can get at an automotive shop or somewhere like Harbor Freight. You just need to push against the center/spindle while pulling on the crank itself. Theoretically you could knock the crank off with a hammer but you risk damaging other things in the process. If you aren’t trying to pull the crank of the bike, you aren’t fucked at all until you do.. you don’t need those threads to install the crank, only to remove it.

if i wasn’t a cross thread probably the big size extractor tip, when the small size was needed.
