Hi, wondering if this bike is a good deal as it would be my first road bike. I’ve been able to talk them down to $300 USD but I’m unsure if the bike is worth it or not as it looks to be an older Allez frame (I think 1999?). I understand the upgrades are good but I am wondering if this is worth pulling the trigger on as I am trying to find a bike to improve my fitness on mostly greenways and roads. Sizing is good! A 52cm would fit me relatively well. I currently have a Trek Verve 1 I am trying to upgrade from. Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

Seems pretty reasonable. Its an interesting spot because its got 2×11 grearing on an older style frame. So if its ready to ride, I’d consider a good price. If you are looking to adjust the sizing / fit I would say its not worth it.
Visually check out the wear parts to determine how much more you’ll need to spend (are the tires, chain, cassette, brakes, rims looking like they’ll need to be replaced soon). Mentally add that to the price of the bike and determine whether you’re comfortable spending that.
I’d also add that the geometry seems relatively aggressive and the cassette looks to be built for going high speed, but not climbing. That’s good if you want a fast bike to ride in a relatively flat area, as opposed to choosing a more upright /comfortable geometry or having climbing gears.
I’d say if that’s the geometry you’re looking for and its in ready-to-ride shape then this is pretty reasonable.
It kind of depends on the condition of the bike. If it’s in really good condition, I would expect it to be about this price given the components, etc.. Everything on the bike has to be in such a condition that you can get on it and ride it right now without having to change anything. Then you need to stop looking at other bikes, pricing and comparing it to other bikes, just ride it and enjoy it. That’s what you bought it for. Then you’ll have a better idea what you will want for your next bike.
