I built this up from a frame I found for €30. I loved the patina and it's rust free on the inside of the tubes. It's running 1×10, with a R7000 105 derailleur and Sensa shifters that use the Tiagra 4700 pull ratio. The brakes are Ultegra R8000 and the cranks are Dura Ace (not sure which generation, 7400?). I've chosen to standardize my bikes on 10 speed and it's enough gears for me. The wooden plug in the fork is pretty funny in this day and age. I set it up with a 25mm front and 30mm rear tyre. This came in just under 10kgs, but not too concerned about weight. I'm hoping to put a fair amount of milage on this during the summer. Cheers!

I would lightly work over the frame where there is rust with 0000 steel wool see if you can get some of the surface rust off. Just be careful, then wipe down the frame with oil or wax, and you should be fine.

I like the contrast of shiny components and frame patina. It looks great.

Bravo, it’s very elegant ! you used the right modern components that look slim enough not to ruin the look of a classic thin frame.

Love it. Where do you ride if you’re comfortable sharing? We should organize a neo retro Champion Mondial social ride 😎

  5. How big a tire can you fit? I’m looking to do a similar rebuild with some old kit and a dumpster salvaged frame. I’m curious as to how wide I can go with modern rubber and brakes
