A great ride with Charles and Chris from Warminster through Imber and back home to Swindon. In all around 50 miles ridden. The weather on the plain was a big rough with strong head and cross winds and driving rain.
It was good to see Imber again, the village lives forever in old photo’s and ones imagination. Long live Imber.

I think I owe you and Chris an apology for making you endure the wind and rain up on Salisbury Plain. Watching your video made me realise the old weather was a bit rough up there. It was on my list of rides to do, and the choice of days when open is limited so thanks for braving the elements. It’s such a shame the village has been destroyed well all except the church. When you think the church has been around since the 1200 hundreds there is an awful lot of history lost by loosing the village and a way of life.
Once again you capture the adventure with fun and sensitivity, we will remember Imber Village.
In a valley hushed where echoes faintly call,
For houses now crushed no longer stand tall,
No longer a bustling, joyful village hall,
For now it’s spirits that are left to have a ball,
Silence is the blacksmith forge, for the hammers no longer fall,
Ghosts in stone, stand and watch all,
For now Imber hearts though silent,beat though everyone is awol,
A ghost village in time and space where echoes faintly call.

I rode from Wilton to Gore cross, Warminster and back, similar distance to you, but the opposite way. I try to ride to Imber every year.
