Alu road bikes, yay 👌

Fix the front brake cable ASAP. The way it’s set up clearly shows the fork needs a full 360° rotation so the cable ends up on the outside, left side. Pretty common mistake when setting up a bike yourself. Riding like this can damage your frame, and turning left will feel seriously off.
PS. Great bike, co grats. Alu Canyons are great, love my grizl

Don’t get upgrades, get up grades.
I’m in the same position as you. Until I shift the extra kilos the extra money spent on a lightweight focused bike would not be worth it.
Your bike looks great, get out there and enjoy it.

I find the weight difference to cost ratio not enough for the price hike, I’ve never had a CF bike but I always worry that I would break it, I know it’s unlikely but something I just have in my head.

Carbon frames are not that much lighter but are stiffer and more comfortable, absorbing more. Since the aluminum frame is light it’s really not about saving weight. All the other stuff, drivetrain, wheels are the things that are heavy. Of course it’s diminishing returns. Carbon also longer than Aluminium which just fractures and breakers without any sign, although I guess a really high end CFR Aeroad is more fragile than Aluminium. So if you don’t want to spend on CF frame, then don’t. But it’s not about weight.
Nice bike btw. Wish I had one like yours. Rocking a 2020 Endurace 7 AL Rim brake right now.
