  1. Does it fit and do you want it?

You’re going to put a lot of money into it and end up with an average bike.

I’d be tempted to part it out and start with something you really want.

Looks to me like it was assembled from a bike shops junk pile. You could build it up however you wish, but there’s no restoration happening

so …. the chainstays and seat stays look compromised. like the frame was cold set and bent to accomodate a singlespeed hub. if it’s steel then there *shouldn’t* be a problem but that’s still a long way to compress.

    if it’s aluminum i wouldn’t ride it.

  4. Can we get some close-up shots of the ground dropouts? From what I *think* I see in the first photo, I don’t like it.

  5. The seatstay and chainstay maaaayy be by design, but I’d compare it to other models of the same. Does anyone know what frame make/model this is? I personally wouldn’t ride this as is- in addition to the things you listed: no rear brake, no bar endplugs, etc. I would take it apart for the parts bin though. How much did it go far at the garage sale?

  6. If you like it and it does what you want ride it but only spend what you need to if there is a problem.

Any thoughts of upgrading it should be put out of your mind as fast as they pop in. Bike has been bodged and even in the world of bodging it’s not one that an expert bodger would stand back and be proud of. You could quite easily spend quite a lot of money on it and still only have a cheap bodged bike.

The person that built that has either big legs with lots of power or thinks that has more power than really has.
