How is this bottom bracket called? Is there a way to swap this with one like the second picture?

Context: a friend of mine bought this old mtb but his bb is failing. Wanting to replace this but can’t find a bike mechanic having the replacement/willing to deal with it. We wanted to look for them online but can’t find the name of the model (we aren’t native english but we don’t even know the name in italian). So since I changed the one in my bike that is the same model of the second picture, I wanted to understand if it is possibile to put one like that. The problem is, i’m not sure it’s compatible and wanted to ask if it can be. Thanks in advance
