Last year I purchased my first road bike and had clip in pedal put on bike to use with MTB shoes they recommended to try first. If I change from MTB cycling shoes to road cycling shoes do I have to change pedals?
It completely depends on what kind of shoe you get.

Depends. I ride with MTB shoes on my road bike, because I like walking around during stops. More traditional road shoes use 3-hole cleats (e.g. Look, SPD-SL) which will require a compatible pedal.

So I should look for shoes that say SPD? Then I can keep my pedals?
