A bike plus some packs to carry enough to live with, looks like bikepacking to me

It’s not officially bikepacking unless you add straps to the bike so you can carry it on your back.

  3. I find two small panniers much more practical for bikepacking than a huge dangling saddle pack.

    Definitely bikepacking.

From someone who didn’t think about it: contact areas of straps/zip ties to the frame. Have you got some sort of frame protection? Electrical tape or the likes?

  5. Do you have anything strapped to your bike or bags with Voille straps? If so, yes 😄

If panniers don’t count, what about all the Tailfin rack ‘bikepackers’?

Are we having this discussion again? Largely thanks to __THIS SUB__ the public has forgotten that the term bike touring exists. The only word they know for a long distance adventure on a bike is bikepacking. the Bikepacking sub used to enforce a rule that if you posted a pic of your bike there had to be some dirt in the photo but this was such obvious BS, and people didn’t get it (I don’t get it), that they stopped.

What matters more: What others call bike packing or bike touring – or getting out there on your bike?
