I recently purchased the Endurace CF 7 but the reach is too long for me. I took off the one piece stem/handlebars the bike came along with the shim on the steerer tube and attached a 1-1/8” stem. The stem fits but as you can see, it does not touch the steerer tube all the way around due to the steerer tube’s odd shape.
Can I ride like this? What are my options besides buying a different sized cockpit?

I wouldn’t ride this bike with that space unfilled. What does canyon say? Do they say it’s safe to ride with a standard geometry stem?
You’re about to destroy the steerer tube. Zipp and giant offer 1 1/4” stems, or buy a canyon one
