I recently invested in a Garmin headset and when the Varia went on sale I decided to try it.
This thing is incredible. When riding on quiet streets it picks up cars nearly a 1/4 mile behind you, and tracks their progress as they get close. On busy streets it somehow can see multiple cars behind you.
I am buying mounts for all my bikes. I don't think I will be riding without this going forward.

Does it beep or something? Or do you have it connected to a screen?
Mine just died :/
I have one built-in to my Vado and I miss it when I ride my regular bike. Didn’t expect it to be so useful but it’s really nice.
Yes, I love mine. Got it 50 bucks off on a Father’s Day sale last year. I also got a 3d printed mount and attached it to the underside of my seat off Etsy for it because I didn’t like it on the seat post.
Naïve question: other than the psychological reassurance of knowing that a large vehicle is behind you, are there specific scenarios in which you imagine that radar keeping you physically safer? I think it’s a really cool technology. I’m just genuinely curious about how it would keep me safer
Never heard of mirrors?
