Just did my first ride on the new Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2. Not sure how much faster it will make me but the e shifting is a dream.
Brief history: I started riding on the road in 2015 and picked up a Jamis Cyclocross bike for $1500 which seemed a crazy amount at the time. I got hit by a car in 2016 and got freaked out so I started running- the one benefit was that I found out I could run [retty far, pretty fast (I’ve time qualified for 4 Boston and 3 NYC marathons since then). I started riding again with a group and they encouraged me to get a road bike. I found a Cannondale Synapse locally for $600. The seller took me to her garage, told me her husband rode it once and hated it. It was basically a new bike for 600 and she even threw in his shoes. So 12k miles later, and the shifting is just getting janky and it’s requiring frequent visits to the shop. Ive been eyeing Treks, but upgrading from my 105 set was looking like 7-8k. A tech at REI was selling me on the Cervelo he had just bought, and while we were talking, he helped me realize I had just basically been riding for free for the last 5 years. Started looking at Canyon, and went pretty big, for me at least. I would never had added a power meter, but thats included, which is nice, and I would never have added the carbon wheels, but figured why not. Loving the bike so far. Similar Trek Specialized would have cost me 8k. It was hard enough convincing the wife I should spend this. But this bike should keep me set for a long while.
