  1. A couple of idiots already ruined cycling for everyone. They're called Warner Brothers Discovery strategists and have managed to ensure that I haven't watched any racing this season on TV let alone in person.

  2. "Cycling" Belgian here:
Those who know what it’s like to ride a few hundred kilometers in a single go can only sing the praises of the winner — whether they're your personal favorite or not.
What these athletes are achieving these days is absolutely insane.

It’s always the so-called “experts” — often with one too many drinks in them — who ruin it for everyone else.
Proper sanctions are necessary. If caught on the spot, there should be an alcohol test, and fines just like in traffic violations.
Nothing wrong with enjoying a beer, as long as it doesn’t ruin the experience for those around you.

And personally, I think appropriate community service — like maintaining the cobblestone roads of Paris-Roubaix, for example — would be a fitting punishment.

    "Cycles away"🚴‍♂

  3. You didn't mention that in Belgium, beer comes in standard 5% double 7-9% and triples 9-13%. So two 375 bottles of triple beer equals a bottle of 13% wine. A 6pack is 3 bottles of wine….

  4. I had an issue with my seat post slipping with a wedge clamp. Gripper paste didn't work so I brought some skateboard tape and stuck that to my seat post and it hasn't slipped since.

  5. The 'This has to stop' thumbnail is just maximum cranky british a statement as a group of pensioners clutching their perils looking at a youth with their hood up😅

  6. Statistically, the number of malicious incidents is infinitesimally small when compared to the numbers who line race routes. So, alongside legal interventions and prevention orders keeping idiots away from races, its necessary to keep a wider perspective – the overwhelming number of fans are not…..well, it rhymes with duck-wits

  7. Sadly, Dan is 100% correct. I'm also belgian, huge fan of the sport. In my opinion, if you are a cycling fan, there is no way you are not able to be in awe or at least have massive respect for MVDP. Even though I'd love for WVA to win, sabotaging one of his biggest adversaries, is despicable and should be reprimanded. (I'm west-flemish btw 😔)

  8. Fans = trouble. Never be a fanatic about anything. Never pay to watch live sports go play sports. Pro athletes don’t deserve to be rich. Famous but not rich.

  9. Right at the end of this video there was a suggestion by Si that people can watch pro-bike racing and I just feel that Si skip one media company that does show pro-bike racing.

I forgotten their name as well, you know the company who had a business relationship with GCN before that all turned bad. I wonder why Si couldn't remember the name of the media company that GCN had a business relationship with that shows pro-bike racing.

  10. I don't know if this is possible or even legal… but what if the selling of alcohol was banned for a couple of days before the race in the particular area where its taking place. I don't know if it will actually solve the problem but atleast reduce the chances of it. But i also know that this will be unfair and violation of rights of people

  11. Just watched content of the 1953 TdF on the Eye Filmmuseum channel, posted 9 years ago. Many readers have probably already viewed it over the last nine years. It is amazing how much does not seem to have changed and how much has changed. With permission from Eye Filmmuseum, perhaps as we come into the 2025 TdF GCN could consider some content on a then and now comparison to discuss the interesting similarities and differences.

  12. Long before the riders pass , about a jillion police, security, and “event” cars/motorbikes go by. Not one of them actively does anything to urge the crowd back, rather they smugly ignore you and make you wonder what their purpose could be. If those passing security had a loudspeaker, slowed enough to wave the crowd back or went so far as to actually tell individuals to get back, at least the “accidental” incidents could be reduced.

  13. Fan issue “solution”: do the riders themselves help out by posting on socials with their biggest rivals that they are competitors and want to win honestly and safely so stop trying to get in the way?

  14. I don’t if it is just the sweatshirt Si is wearing but he is looking stronger, in his upper body, to me. Keep, pumping iron!
