I've never had bar ends, but I feel like I could use an extra hand position on my current bike, so please chime in with your experience. The options in the stores in my area seem to be either long bent ones providing multiple hand positions, or shorth straight ones with just one position but more ergonomic-looking shape. Which style would you go for (purely for comfort, 0 cares about looks)?

RST bar ends mounted inside on my Vitus Rapide are very comfy. Two extra positions and perfect for any boring road stretches or an alternative for longer climbs.
Considering wrapping them as well for a bit of extra grip.
Second but not on bar end
Edit: look up koga denham bars
Short bars for better ergonimics, longer bars if you plan to skid against cars that get to close.
I’ve used both but most recently had the shorter ones on my commuter which definitely helped with hand and wrist fatigue. Bar ends fell out of fashion but they are still practical, especially for city bikes, commuters, xbikes, etc. If I were to buy another set, it would be the shorter ones for sure.
