Hi everyone! I am looking to get into tubeless for long distance XC mountainbike rides, to be able to run lower pressures and to minimise the possibility of getting stranded 50 km from home. I have researched the subject to the extent of deciding to run the new Silca Ultimate Tubeless sealant 2.0 that is injectable, plus possibly Vittoria Air-Liner tubeless inserts. I will use 2.25 " XC MTB tyres with SUNringlé Düroc 30 wheels that are tubeless-ready, and obviously need some tubeless rim tape for the wheels.

However what is not clear for me is which tubeless valves should I run with that combo. Obviously the inserts require a valve that has those sideways air channels inside the rim, and the Silca sealant needs a valve where the valve core can be removed. Looking at those types of valves, from user reviews it seems that many people have had valve clogging issues with valves that should be ok for injectable sealant. The Silca stuff is also probably on the more cloggy side of sealants as well since it should be the best sealing even quite large punctures. I can't really find any recommendations for valves with the new Silca sealant, other than that Fillmore valves apparently don't really work with it.

Do you helpful people have any recommendations which tubeless valves should I invest in for my use case? The valves can be quite pricy so I'd like to not have to buy twice. Thanks!

  1. The 2.0 doesn’t have the same valve clogging problems the original tubeless formula from Silva had
