  1. I can’t tell what it’s supposed to be doing from this pic. If it’s skipping it’s probably worn out.

  2. Your chain is likely worn and needs replacement. You can measure with a ruler or a chain wear tool.

How much play is there in the pulley? Does it have a lot of left/right slop if you wiggle it?

  4. Hard to tell from the picture. Assuming your derailleur is set properly, it’s a few different things from easy to hard to fix.

    1. No oil on chain
    2. Chain needs to be replaced
    3. Derailleur is bent
    4. Cassette is worn out

  5. Can’t quite be sure what’s happening here. Chain is not fully wrapping on the pulley and is pulling towards the wheel?
I don’t know what your front chainring setup is, but I wonder if the chain line is good or if it’s possible that you’re cross-chaining, running the front on the smallest chainring while also running the chain on the smallest rear cog.

I’m trying to imagine if it’s a derailer adjustment issue, but I’m not sure a bad adjustment would have that effect. Still, worth checking your derailler limiter settings, and check for chain stretch.

  6. The link that is not wrapping around the gear is a stiff link. Work it side to side to get it to loosen up, and then lubricate the chain fully to prevent it from happening again. Also, check your chain wear.

  7. Chain looks dry as a bone poor lubrication soon brings a stiff chain that won’t engage with sprockets properly.

Maybe try a bit of care & maintenance then see if the problem persists.

Looks like an alignment issue to me. Cog X on the front is far from parralel with cog Y on the rear

Second the stiff link 🔗 issue. We just changed 2x stiff links on our ebike fleet, 2 new full suspension trek bikes since January. It Makes a chain tension issue sound as if it wants to slip but then when you watch the chain go around you see it skip at the jockey wheels because it’s not bending around. Easiest option for us was to place a new chain, we use them 3x a week and wash them after every dirty session, so during winter they been washed loads.
