The newish and rather amazing Raffles London have a couple of bicycles in their reception. Why? For most of its existence the building was home to the War Office which as well as having over 1000 offices had 2.5 miles of corridors which could prove problematic when trying to find someone else who worked there or get a message to them. Messengers used bikes to cycle along the long stretches of corridor to speed up the process.
