Yes, that’s normal. That part can’t go in any further anyway. What you’re seeing there is the lip on the BB.

As long as you installed it drive side (right side) first to full torque then the non drive side (left side) to torque. Looks like you did it correctly judging that there’s no gap on the external cup on the drive side.
