I just cracked the frame on my polygon siskiu d7 that I’ve had for a little more than a year. It has various upgrades (m8120 breaks 203mm rotors, one up v2 dropper and v3 leaver, tubeless set up, one up edc,etc) would I be better off selling the bike as a whole with the broken frame, or parting it out and trying to sell individual parts?

Did you contact polygon to warranty it? That’s absolutely not a normal place for a frame to crack.

Isn’t there a warranty on the frame? If not part it out.
Polygon will do nothing if you’re not the original buyer. Bikes online will offer you a frame at a discount if they have any available if you’re not the original buyer.. otherwise warranty it.
I just received the same frame a few days ago, picked it up for about $500 for just the frame from bikes online.
Obviously this is a warranty issue if you are the original owner. If not, you may still be able to finagle a crash replacement. I have seen a lot of brands do that for secondary owners.
My first question for you, is what is your goal here? Frame is fucked, obviously you’ll need a new one, but aside from that, what are you hoping to accomplish?
Are you looking to get out of the sport? You want to liquidate your bike and be done with it? Are you looking to maximize value here and put that into a new bike? How quickly are you hoping to get onto a new bike? What is the goal here.
I can tell you first hand, parting bikes out is a bitch. It takes way longer to sell everything, it will take a lot more of your time, and, the payoff isn’t really worth it.
You could get *maybe* $200 for that fork, but not a penny more, and you’d be lucky to get $200 for it.
The rear shock is basically worthless in the secondary market.
Wheels you are looking at again, $200 if you are lucky.
Nice brake set, new it looks like $250-300 would be fair. Used though, like $150.
Rotors are worthless.
Dropper should fetch $200.
So like… The fork, shock, rotors, and wheels are pretty much not going to sell and if they do, well they’d be worth more to you on a bike than in the secondary market. If they do sell, you’ll not get much for them at all. It wont be worth your time to even list them.
The brakes and the dropper/remote will sell, but I’d say you’d be lucky to get more than $300 for everything.
If you just want to get riding again, the strat is to buy another frame with the same spec’s as this one, and swap all the parts over. If you want to get out from under this bike, list the bike ‘as is’ and let someone else do that.
Parting this out will not be worth your time.
Use parts to build up a hardtail and buy another full susser. It’s a win win!
As others said you can file for a warranty claim. Word of warning though, I cracked my D6 (same frame, different components) last November. I’m still waiting for the replacement part to come in. And they are only replacing the triangle.
Sell as a whole and end it. I’ve tried to do the same and it’s a nightmare dealing with all the b.s people will bring asking if it’ll fit this or that but in the end they don’t buy it anyway ..imo
