It broke at the assembly rivet. You can remove the damaged outer plates and connect the chain with a “quick link”. You need a chain tool and the link matches the “speeds” of the chain.

get another Missing link to replace the link that is splayed.
does this chain have another missing link or quick link?
or does its have one connecting pin? it will look different from these pins.
if it doesnt, the person who put on this chain did it improperly. go back and request they give/install for you a missing link.
