Anybody use these on their commute?
Any issues? I just bought one but wasn't sure how stable it was laterally or torsionally.
I'd be within the 22lb weight limit but I'm still a little skeptical.
I would really like to have an early removable rack for weekends.
Thanks.

I’ve never tried one for the same reasons.
I’m looking for something for my gravel bike. I was looking at the Ortlieb Quick Rack. It looks like it would check the boxes for commuting and then I can take it off for gravel or cyclocross rides.
I’m not sure my regular commuting bag is under the weight limit for a seat post rack.
Why do you want to have an easily removable one? I just leave mine on whenever I use it on the weekend. Another plus is it is less likely to get taken by someone in public compared to the one you have pictured.
Mine is all of 4 screws that need to be removed, takes like 3 minutes or less
using it daily. also did a bike tour for 10 days over rough roads near the weight limit, works well.
Toggling it on/off is a bit of a hassle though, although is indeed 4 screws, it is not as simple as i thought.if you dont have mounts but commute with a bag, there are not many options. I also tried a ventilating backpack to avoid back sweating, that does not work for me even after trying a few different ones and I dont sweat a lot by default
That looks like BS to me it will eihter destroy itself or your bike.
used one for a while and would forget it was on when I would see some side dirt. then it would be crooked. the more I tried to retighten the looser it would be the next time I went off road. Granted this was 10 years ago but I have never trusted the design since.
I have one. No issues. I’m sure it’s not the best option but it does the job for my short commute of 3 miles
Just bought one for my roadie that I commute with and first ride = broke spoke
gotta bungie pannier now bcuz strap doesn’t fit around both rails so wasn’t nice and tight
This one looks more narrow for strap compared to mine plus the one I got the side rails are short so bag doesn’t have the support to rest up against
No issues with weight, I pack light but when I wiggled past some foot soldiers it breached the wheel
Yeah yeah nah. They ate pretty hopeless & move side to side. Does ur bike have eyelets/threads for rack bolts? If so just grab a Topeak Super Tourist or Explorer, loctite 242/243 the bolts in & never worry about it again.
I’ve been using one for 8 months. Carries my change of clothes, tools, lights (during the day), and lunch. Works fine.
I used one for quite a while before upgrading to the a full rack (Axiom Streamliner). It worked well enough with a trunk bag sitting on top. I found it had a tendency to rotate but a piece of old inner tube between it and the seatpost made it much more stable. As long as you keep your loads light it will be fine.
I use one with four bolts on two different bikes. One with a dropper post on a carbon frame. I load the crap out of it and it’s been fine.
Used a four bolt one on a Thomson post and it squished it before it would be stable enough to use so be very careful which post you use
Everyone I know that has had one had basically said it was a fine substitute until they got a real rack with for mounting points.
I ride with an empty rack on the weekends and remove if I’m doing any rallies or whatever. It’s not so bad.
