The best way to carry water is actually none of the above. Find a roll of duct tape in a cool color, remove your saddle and slide the entire roll of duct tape on your seatpost. Remove both water bottle cages and simply tape your water bottles to your tubes. Remove the tape each time you need to access the bottles and then simply use the roll from your seatpost to retape the bottles to your frame. Quick, effective, and classy. You will be the envy of all of your group rides.
