I was looking to buy an E-type hook and looking at the third party hooks vs the official one, the official one has that extra wire guard on the side. Does it offer anything to the hook or is this only a way for Brompton to reuse the same plastic hook as the mudguard?

I don’t think my new 12 speed has the hook. So maybe something just for shipping?
As an aside, I wish the hook was longer. I like to carry my bike by the seat up the stairs and it unfolds so easily.
