Well, I live in Venezuela in a state where there are no BMX things, they are giving me this bike that is ugly, but I don't have money for a new bike and I don't think you can get anything BMX here.

I don't know anything about BMX, I'm interested in that world and I'd like to have a bike to start, and I wanted to know if I can repair and adapt it?

I was looking at pictures and the chain, the chain head is bigger than the BMX bikes, could I change it?

If someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

  1. To change the front sprocket you would need to change the gear ratio on the rear wheel, the easy solution is to get a newer back wheel with the tooth count that you want. 25-9 is the standard on modern bikes. The bottom bracket can have mid bb cups inserted to switch the bottom bracket bearings out to the new setup. It can be upgraded but at the end of the day is it worth upgrading to you.

  2. While totally understanding bmx may not be easily affordable or accessible, this bike won’t hold up to much freestyle use. Looks likely to have been a race bmx. As for changing the chainring, you could make it smaller, but you won’t be able to change the rear cog to match it, so would end up peddling loads but going nowhere fast!
Smaller chainrings, needs a smaller rear cog, and that means usually a whole new wheel.
