You could try the coin tap test to see if it sounds dull.

Not quite the same as ultrasound, but who has a scanner in their tool box?

  2. If it’s the top tube I wouldn’t stress too much but I would a little. Could try slapping some carbon on yourself if it’s holy. In my city the guy who fixes this charges 800AUD 😵‍💫. I now work with carbon for my job and as such has made me a lot less scared of the stuff and a bit of diy. It’s just time…

Not bad at all. Just some paint job to do cover it or a sticker. I have couple of those on my bike also. You ran onto some stones and it hit your frame like that. Untill you dont se any crack on a frame you are good 😉

If it’s carbon, tap on and around the area to be sure you don’t hear any “dead” sounding areas, that would mean delamination.

If everything sounds just fine, don’t worry about it.

Is that a hole, or just the black carbon peeking through?

You could find a nail polish that color, pretty sure. Wouldn’t be noticeable from a distance.

Impressive paint job, looks like they did 3 coats of the color.

Bro it’s a bike. You are gonna get paint chips..cover it up, relax and enjoy your bike. It’s meant to get banged up and dirty. 😆

Rite of passage. I got a big nasty paint chip on my fancy hand made steel bike with custom sparkle flip (like yours) paint job that the maker didn’t keep any backup paint for.

Was devastated. But it means the bike is ridden. Its a battle scar. Display it with pride (or put a sticker over it)

Congratulations on being an actual bike rider and not just a collector. Scars prove we lived.

You should cover this in clear nail polis. If you want to try and hide it a bit, take a sharpie and color over it first.

The nail polish will help prevent this from getting worse and/or spreading.

  11. just find some acrylic paint as close as u can to the color and fill it in so it prevents rust. u wont even notice it.

Bacosil (horrible stuff), mix with expoy resin to make a paste. Fill said gap. Clean excess with wipes. Cover with heat shrink tape, wrap tight, then pierce holes in said tape. Heat lightly with heat gun, then wipe away excess & leave to cure for a couple days. If it was a crack, I’d sand down to see how fair it goes/spreads, but this deffo looks like a fill as opposed to a repair & (cf) wrap
