    I’d ride it until a new cable arrives. Technically, if you trusted the brakes before, the excess cable wasn’t contributing anyway.

  2. Just get a new cable. It’s one of the cheapest parts to replace on a bike, but also one of the most important parts that have to work.

    Have a look at the park tool YouTube chanel for instructions how to change the cables on that style of brake. 

  3. You definitely can’t repair the cable: it’s done for. You can probably ride it to the bike shop to get it fixed: this is a rear brake, and it’s less critical than the front brake. I wouldn’t want to test this with an emergency stop, though, or ride the bike for long distances/multiple days: you’re tempting fate a bit here.

    If you can’t disassemble for maintenance and then reassemble, it’s already broken, but still technically functional. If you like your bike replace the cable.
