Crashed on Thursday, 40 miles into ride. I don’t remember exactly what caused my crash, though I do remember swerving and then overcorrecting.someone witnessed it and said I was knocked out for a couple minutes. She called 911, and er did all the usual stuff. X-rays, CT, labs, vitals ok. Just sitting at home for a few days, dealing with a bit of fatigue. Very glad I was wearing the helmet(which I’ve already replaced). Stay safe, y’all

Damn, quite lucky that you’re doing okay. This is why we all wear helmets. How are you feeling? How’s the bike?

Good man! Just for anyone who may not be aware, most helmets come with a crash replacement discount. Details vary depending on the manufacturer, but generally if you email them a photo of the damaged helmet, a description of what happened, and proof of your purchase of the helmet, they’ll offer you a discount on the next helmet. Bike helmets are like car crumple zones, they can only be crumpled once to absorb the impact. It’s important that they be replaced after a major crash.

Anyways, I’m glad the hospital visit seemed to come back with mostly good news. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    1) Check with the shop where you go it. Many manufacturers have discounts on replacements.

    2) Look up “Post Concussion Syndrome” and check your symptoms. Nobody told me about it and I went for months. Foggy head, couldn’t run more than a block, …
