You should definitely investigate further. The crack in the paint indicates there was an impact. In the spot where you can see carbon, is it soft? You may need to remove some paint from around the area to check it out.

Seems like paint only around the chipped out area but below looks dodgy. Get a professional to take a look.

  3. You probably had a moment of good fortune. This looks like a paint chip. If you have a carbon repair shop in your area perhaps an evaluation would be peace of mind. I personally would tap it out, and if it sounded good move on. ALL of my MTB’s and Gravel bikes have far worse. My beautiful 2023 BMC Team machine picked one up within weeks of putting it on the road. good luck.

  4. Do the coin test. It looks deep though. But I think it should be repairable. There are a few famous carbon frame repair shops I remember. Calfee and Carbon Solutions.

Chip off all the loose paint so you can do a better visual inspection, and tap test it with a metal tool or coin.

If you can’t get a warranty or crash replacement, carbon fibre repair is a reasonable and cheap option.

I would be worried. Something like this will get worse fast, speaking from experience. Idk tho, maybe it will be okay?
