Hello all, new to the folding bike world, as I am looking to add some multimodal last mile transport to my public transit commute.

Wondering if you can help me id this brompton model? Seller asking 850e. I’m a competent mechanic, but I’ve never worked with brompton stuff before. Would be happy to learn though!

Well, if I was selling one of my Bromptons, I would at least make it look good\normal in the pictures.

Having the saddle so low makes it look weird, maybe the ‘owner’ is not a Brompton user ?

  2. M3R, 2013-2018. Single shifter so 3 speed. Spider cranks so post 2013. Bunny ear shifter so pre 2019. R for rack.

  3. Well, it has the rear clip, so it’s at least post 2007. But I think it would be an M3R at the very least. You could check if its post 2017 or not if you can undo the bolt inside the stem and check if it’s got a more modern wedge or the older one, the new one has the triangular top edge whereas the old one is more like a tapered disk.
Can you get the serial number? It’s on a sticker on the saddle post tube on the frame.
I’m not sure 850 is entirely worth it, but the price of 2nd hand bromptons can be really wild.

Make sure that the bottom bracket has been replaced under the factory recall.

Mine was recalled around 2015-16 because the factory fitted BBs were defective. Can easily cross check the serial with Brompton. They might still fix it now.
