    marlin or 2nd green spesh would be my pick. all have good enough beginner components for you to enjoy the sport

    I’m old so I remember when we just had rigid bikes. That said, I’d get some suspension. I’d stay away from the diamond backs, they used to be decent bikes, I’m not so sure anymore. The full suspension might be ok, but starting out, it may be more trouble than it’s worth (especially at that price point). And I agree with the other commenter. I’d go for the green spear or the marlin if it were me.

    Depending on budget, Giant just updated the Talon line up to include a thru axle design instead of QR skewer.

    Make sure you size it right. I’m a huge fan of trek, but I also sell them as a job. I think they’re very well built bikes.

    The Marlin 5 is a solid base Hardtail that I recommend to a lot of folks, anything above a five in a marlin line is just a waste of money.
