Hello and welcome to the Great British Biking Adventures Coast Series. In this series we are travelling around the coast on our motorcycle, a Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer.

A lot of our viewers are bike enthusiasts but this series will appeal to a wider audience. Why? Because there’s so much more to the Coast series than motorcycles. There’s the challenges, the journey, geography, history and people. You get to travel the entire coast of England and Wales with us, see how we did it, share our ups and downs, experience English culture, the history and hear about the people that made Britain ‘Great’!

What’s also good about the coast series is it doesn’t matter when you start watching, it’s like one of those open top bus tours – you can get on at any point and just keep going until you arrive back where you started.

Who are we? We’re a husband & wife living in an unremarkable coastal town in England. We’ve been married 35 years and were brought together by motorcycles. One day, Esther’s Honda Melody broke down and she brought it to Jarrod’s motorcycle shop – the rest (as they say) is history.

One cold February day, we started riding along the seafront and just kept going. We wanted to record the experience to have something to watch in the future – the YouTube channel was an afterthought. Take a look at those first few episodes to see just how novice we were, cobbling together what little phone footage we had to try to make a story. To make up for our amateur recording and shyness we added information in the editing. This set the tone and style of our videos, we hope you like it. We like to think we’ve improved and hopefully you’ll agree, take a look, compare our earlier videos with the later ones and let us know in the comments.

There’s also the filming and production journey. When we started we knew nothing about filming, video and audio production, editing, YouTube and the like. We’ve learnt loads and spent loads in time and money along the way but it’s been almost as enjoyable as the journey itself. You’ll hopefully appreciate how far we’ve come.

But what’s with all those bible verses we hear you say. We know some of you don’t appreciate this aspect, one or two have told us in the comments! That’s fine – it really is. All are equally welcome here, believers and unbelievers. It would be a pity if you enjoyed everything else but just stopped watching because of the Christian references but we completely accept you’re free to do as you please.

Our faith has prompted us to include a bible verse in our videos and sometimes a Christian perspective on the things we talk about. The channel is not about Christianity but our faith cannot be separated from it. We hope and pray that it will make you think, inquire and even bring you into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

  1. Cracking opening footage, does Esther have a really long selfie stick or did you have a camera car this episode? 😎 Please go back and redo some episodes?! I need my weekly fix of GBBA, especially now winter is coming 🥶 You could be on to something with camping in the rain, there's a channel called Go4x4 Camping and he often gets 10M+ hits on his camping in the rain videos with his dog Ted 🤯⛺ LOL'd at the 'Long Way Round' reference, good to see Mutley make an appearance in the last Coast episode. Thanks for sharing your adventure 💚 🍻 How many U-Turns were there in total 🤣😉

  2. OH dear sadly it's the end! Speaking for my self you have shared not only numerous hours of motorcycling adventure but awesome historical facts, sunday school, of course the spectacular coastline and your wonderful company, I can't thank you enough. We like camping just a shame we don't get the weather to enjoy it more. The original pool looked like loads of fun for the surrounding commuity and far better than the monstrosity that followed. No need to appologise for the first few videos it's been an evolution i've enjoyed every minuet. All the best hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Our plans for touring Scotland are on the back burner for now due to child minding duties. TTFN enjoy your weekend.😪

  3. Another awesome episode and I’m glad we got to meet you both in Pendine.
I know from experience being a motorcycle rider you must have at least another episode with some swearing and road rage car drivers trying to unhinge your day, hold on, I’ve got 80 plus episodes I could upload.🤔 Seriously though, absolutely brilliant from start to finish. We will give you a shout when down your way for a brew!
    Keep it shiny side up.

  4. Wow – the final instalment of an epic journey both for you and us happy viewers!!!
Yes you’ve adapted your filming and editing as the route gathered momentum and found the style that you were both comfortable with.
I’m sure that if you repeated this tale the early stages would mimic the latter ones which became more polished and full of information but in all honesty the appeal of watching the whole series has been witnessing the steady transition from total novices to consummate entertainers, that latter you have certainly achieved.
And yes you inspired me to complete a weeks ride to the south of Ireland using google maps (which you demonstrated how to use and add stops in an earlier addition).
Once again many thanks and well done.
And your next sortie is ………

  5. Many thanks for all your time and effort to bring us your incredible journey. They all ways say the same route in the opposite direction is totally different. Plus, if you go clockwise, you make more left turns than right ones. Just a thought!

  6. Thanks both for another great installment, what a lovely end to the series! It's been a captivating watch, and I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to the next adventure! Scotland's North Coast 500 perhaps? 😬 I'll be back in the saddle next season with plans to do the same. Safe travels both and god bless!

  7. Hi again,
    Well that's a wrap!
Well done, what a day to make it home to WSM and Bike Night too.
Bubbly is well deserved, I may even raise a "toast" to you this evening.
As to Weston's economics and attractions, it looks quite nice really, compared to Sandown (Isle of Wight), which is rather dire.
WSM is now on my "to visit" list, maybe by bike.
Cheers to you both, thank you for the trip.
    Kind regards.

  8. Hello Esther and Jarrod. Thanks for a wonderful series, so professional. You probably don't remember but we were just about to embark on our own motorhome trip to the Baltics. We got to Hanover and lost 5th gear (overdrive) and could not get parts in either Germany or Poland so we ended up getting gearbox repaired in Liverpool. We did make as far as Poland though and had a wonderful time on the Masurian lakes in a motor yacht. Never made the Baltics but were on the road 3 months and covered nearly 8,000 Kms. So looking forward to your next adventure. Paul and Fabiola (Cadiz, Spain).

  9. Thanks for the adventure, going to miss the weekly videos. Love the music on this video and one other composure came to mind "Elgar". Keep safe and look forward to upcoming videos.😎😎

  10. I’ve really enjoyed watching these but was a late joiner, so looking forward to watching from the beginning. I should think you both need a good rest after this epic adventure. 😀

  11. Enjoyed your series but would like to know how the bike coped two up with luggage etc and being DCT would you pick the same bike again? I come from two up FJR1300 many miles across Europe. 👍
