I’ve been repairing bicycles for a couple years and I was asked to assess a bike to determine what it needs or be road worthy and restored. The bike is a 1990 Bridgestone RB-1 and is in relatively excellent condition. The bike looks completely original, save for cheap pedal replacements. Other than a broken spoke on the front rim and scuffs on the brake levers, and old dry rotted tires, this bike is in spectacular condition. The drivetrain operates smoothly and crisp. The bike is basically what one may consider a “barn find”.

The owner had originally stated he wasn’t going to sell it, but has since told me that he will and to give him a reasonable offer. I’m not sure what a reasonable offer would be for this bike. I see a bike of same year and model currently on eBay listed at $625 and it hasn’t moved. I’ve also seen a 14 year old post about $700 being too much. So I wanted to check with the experts and the experienced here to see what “reasonable” may be and go from there.
