Due to their ever increasing popularity, bicycle lanes have been installed on one of the runways at Edinburgh Airport.
In what is thought to be an airport first, a six month trial has been established to monitor the popularity of these lanes and if the trial proves successful the airport has committed to putting them on both runways.
Airport Compliance Officer Stevie Muir was excited about the opportunity for cyclists.
"We took a look at our infrastructure and decided that the bike lanes would be a great way to expand the use of our underutilised runways."
"Whilst they don't really go anywhere, the views of trucks passing on the highway is simply breathtaking" Paul commented.
The trial begins next week.

/uc I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that in the USA to get the federal subsidies
This design is AAA (All Ages and Abilities), and is considered to be very safe for bicyclists. Hope the planning commission will consider a sidewalk as well to improve the walkability of the runway.
Is this a really late to the party April Fools?
UK news posted to an international cycling sub I know, but I’m looking at the clock thinking “come on now, it’s late in any timezone.”
The drafting opportunities are immense
That’s nice.
Could they add plastic lane separators?
