Brings back memories – lived there through the 80’s, before any bike paths/lanes. Chasing the bike messengers splitting lanes through gridlock, blowing through red lights, dodging pedestrians, bunny hopping potholes and sidewalk curbs back-and-forth, etc while breathing diesel bus fumes and trying not to get doored.
You were the fastest thing on the road – it was lunacy, but also about the most exciting, 100%-engaged/focused riding I’ve ever done. Had a hard time adjusting to riding in the burbs after that.
