As the titles says..this was my first OTB moment I e had. Thankfully it was a nice slow soft landing. My buddy things I need to add more pressure to my fork but I don't know..anyone was having a good time at Colorado bend State park and on the last trail I guess I hit to big of a rock and went over..guess I'll play around with my suspension some. He thinks mine should be set up like his where even the section we came down he used maybe 20% of his fork travel and I used closer about 80.

Baseline fork pressure is to have it sag 20% when you sit on the bike in your normal riding stance on flat ground.
So your buddy’s fork is way too stiff if it only went through 20% in rocky terrain. Don’t take any advice on suspension set up from him.
You can play around with adding air to the fork, but it’s not a bad thing to use up most of the travel on a ride, as long as you’re not bottoming it out.
To me it just looks like you were going too slow / under-commited to the line you wanted, got bumped into a line you didn’t want and stalled out on a rock (or the tree?). It happens, especially when you’re a little tentative or riding something hard.
Sounds like your buddy has his way too STIFF*, depending on the travel. For chunk like that id want to use like 60% of a 120mm fork, and have a volume spacer or 2 to ramp up closer to bottom out, to reserve that travel for big hits off drops n such
